The countries of the European Union are preparing another package of military aid for Ukraine in the amount of 6 billion euros. About this informs Political.
This package is expected to include 1.5 million artillery shells, air defense systems and other weapons. This would be one of the biggest support packages from the EU since the start of a full-scale Russian invasion in 2022.
According to the report, the official announcement on the provision of aid will take place on the eve of the visit of European commissioners to Kyiv on February 24, the third anniversary of the invasion. It is noted that this package is aimed at strengthening the strategic positions of Ukraine against the background of negotiations between the USA and Russia.
After the EU states estimate what they can transfer to Kyiv, the package’s value could potentially increase to 10 billion euros. It is planned that the countries of the European Union will be able to join the package financially or with military equipment, and their contribution will be proportional to the gross national income.
