The EU will not lift sanctions against Russia, even if the United States does: European Commissioner

The European Union does not plan to lift sanctions against Russia, even if the United States of America does. About this stated European Commissioner for Economy and Productivity, Implementation and Simplification Valdis Dombrovskis.
The official emphasized that Brussels pursues its own policy on sanctions, and it does not depend on the decisions of the administration of US President Donald Trump.
“Given the policy of the new US administration, the EU must take matters of its own security into its own hands, this also applies to the sanctions policy. You know that work is currently underway on the 16th package,” – he noted.
Currently, the European Union is preparing to adopt the 16th package of sanctions before the third anniversary of the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. At the same time, the EU does not plan to completely ban the purchase of Russian liquefied natural gas, but intends to introduce certain restrictions.
