The European Commission and the EIB signed a €2 billion agreement to rebuild Ukraine

On March 6, the European Commission and the European Investment Bank (EIB) signed a guarantee agreement that will allow the bank to invest 2 billion euros in urgent recovery and reconstruction projects in Ukraine. About this reported Ministry of Economy of Ukraine.
The agreement will contribute to the implementation of priority projects, agreed with the government of Ukraine, within the framework of the Ukraine Facility mechanism. Funding will be directed to state initiatives in key areas: strengthening energy networks, expanding hydropower and renewable energy production, increasing energy efficiency, modernizing railway infrastructure, developing urban transport and improving the transport network, including the “Roads of Solidarity” project.
The funds will also help restore municipal infrastructure, including water supply systems, heating, street lighting, as well as the reconstruction of schools, hospitals, and universities. The first projects that will receive financing within the framework of this guarantee were announced during the recent visit of the EIB President to Kyiv.
“The European Union and its institutions, in particular the EIB, remain reliable partners in the recovery of Ukraine. We accelerate investment projects that meet our most urgent strategic needs, ensuring rapid reconstruction and modernization. Each implemented project brings Ukraine closer to the EU, strengthening our stability and integration into the European family.”, — noted the First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Svyridenko.
