The first mosque for Muslim servicemen opened in Ukraine

On the initiative of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, in which many Muslim soldiers serve, the As-Salam military mosque was opened in the country for the first time. Its construction was made possible thanks to the support of caring patrons. About this informs GUR press office.

The solemn opening of the mosque began according to tradition – with the reading of the Koran and joint prayer. The ceremony was attended by servicemen of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine who profess Islam, Brigadier General Dmytro Usov, representative of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, head of the Center for International Relations “Peace and Security” Khusameddin Al-Khalavani, as well as chaplains Kostiantyn Kholodov and Suleyman Khairullaev.

“Friday prayers and gatherings for Muslims are planned here on a permanent basis, where they can learn to read the Koran and increase their spiritual faith.” Suleiman Khairullaev noted.

The mosque has all the conditions for holding religious ceremonies. The Koran is available in two languages ​​— Arabic and Ukrainian.

“For a Muslim, a mosque is a place where he can gather strength of spirit, which is very important for a warrior. The opening of this mosque is a very important example for all of Ukraine and a great gift for all Muslims who serve Ukraine.” – explained Husameddin Al-Halawani.

The opening was also attended by the head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov. He thanked the Muslim soldiers for their bravery in the battles against the Russian occupiers and handed over to the mosque a collection of prayers and remembrances of Allah for Muslim soldiers, prepared by the Military Chaplaincy Service of the HUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
