The Hungarian parliament approved the withdrawal from the International Criminal Court

The Parliament of Hungary voted for the country’s withdrawal from the International Criminal Court (ICC). About this reported Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary Peter Sijarto.
Hungary officially announced its intention to leave the ISS at the beginning of April during the visit to the country of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, for whom an arrest warrant was issued on behalf of the ISS.
“The Hungarian Parliament voted to withdraw from the ICC. With this decision, we refuse to be part of a politicized institution that has lost its impartiality and authority.”, – said Sijarto.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán explained this decision as “politicization” of the ISS, calling himself an “expert” in ISS affairs:
“I was the prime minister who signed the document on joining the ISS in 2001.”
Orbán added that he will now be the one to withdraw the country from its composition. His words caused applause among the participants of the press conference. According to Orbán, in recent years the ICC has turned from an impartial institutional body into a “political court”.
In response to these events, the leadership of the International Criminal Court stated that Hungary’s decision to withdraw from its membership was “concerning”.
