The Kremlin responded to Trump’s statement about reducing the 50-day deadline

Vladimir Putin’s press secretary Dmytro Peskov commented on US President Donald Trump’s statement about shortening the 50-day deadline and his “disinterest” in meeting with the Russian president.

According to Peskov, Moscow has “taken note” of Trump’s position, but does not change the course of waging war against Ukraine. Moscow emphasized that the so-called “special military operation” is ongoing, and at the same time declared its alleged commitment to the peace process. Peskov emphasized that the key for the Kremlin remains to ensure “its own national interests” in any format of conflict settlement.

“And we, as before, remain committed to the peace process to settle the conflict around Ukraine and ensure our interests in the course of this settlement. Here I would like to avoid assessments. We have taken into account President Trump’s statement.”, – said Peskov.

It will be recalled that on July 28, Donald Trump expressed his disappointment at the lack of progress in the negotiations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation and put the blame on Moscow, accusing it of unwillingness to agree. In response, he moved the deadline closer, clarifying that the final “window” for negotiations will end between August 7 and 9. If no agreement is reached, Trump has threatened to impose a 100% tariff on imports of goods from Russia.
