The Ministry of Defense has granted permission to operate the domestic Oncilla-Shturm armored personnel carrier
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced the codification and official admission to operation of the Oncilla-Shturm armored personnel carrier, designed to perform a wide range of combat missions. About this reported press service of the department.
Oncilla-Shturm is designed for three crew members and six paratroopers. The machine is equipped with a turbodiesel engine and an automatic transmission, the armored vehicle demonstrates high mobility on the battlefield. The fuel supply provides a mileage of more than 700 kilometers, and the armor protects against small arms, debris and explosions.
Standard equipment includes a tire inflation system, hydraulic power steering, air conditioning with a heating function, an automatic fire extinguishing system, a filter ventilation system and a winch. Armament is represented by a remote-controlled combat module with a large-caliber machine gun.
The armored personnel carrier can be manufactured in various modifications according to the needs of the units. The Ministry of Defense notes that the Oncilla-Shturm meets modern standards, providing a high level of protection and functionality during combat operations.
In addition, the Ministry of Defense also codified and put into operation the Ukrainian UAT-TISA armored car, and also announced the introduction of the “Zubr” four-wheel-drive armored car with increased cross-country ability into combat units. These steps emphasize the desire to strengthen the country’s defense capabilities at the expense of modern domestically produced equipment.
