The Ministry of Statistics explained why “Dia” cannot be divorced yet

Currently, Ukrainians can only get married through the Diya mobile application, but the divorce function is not yet available, although it may appear in the future. Valeriya Tkach, deputy director of the electronic services development department of the Ministry of Digital Transformation, told about this during the telethon.
“Divorce has not yet been implemented in Diya, we are also studying this issue, and if Ukrainians support such an idea, of course, changes will be made to regulations and such a function may appear in the mobile application in the future.”, – explained Tkach.
She also explained how to register a marriage online. This service is already in demand – more than 800 marriage applications were submitted in just one day.
“This is a revolutionary service for the whole world, because no country in the world has a fully digitized marriage process, but Ukraine has it”, – emphasized Tkach.
The process looks like this: first you need to submit an application 5-9 days before the desired date. On the day of the ceremony, the couple connects to a video conference, where a DRATSS employee registers the marriage. A marriage certificate will appear in “Diya” within 24 hours, and a paper version can be obtained by mail or at a branch of Ukrposhta.
Tkach also clarified that after submitting an application, the system checks whether any of the applicants is in a valid marriage. Applications from same-sex couples are also rejected.
“A proposal can be made to anyone, but at the stage of submitting an application, checks are carried out in the registers, and only a man and a woman can submit an application for marriage.”, – added Tkach.
