The murder of a 9-year-old Ukrainian girl is being investigated in Germany: who is suspected
The search for 9-year-old Valeria, who came to the Saxon city of Döbeln (Germany) with her mother and sister, fleeing from the war, lasted more than a week. The girl disappeared on June 3 on the way to school. At first, the police combed the town and its surroundings. A few days later, law enforcement officers announced an international search for the girl. However, on June 11, Valeria’s body was found in a forest near Döbeln. There are currently two suspects in the murder case.
“Valeria was the victim of a crime. We are now investigating a murder.” said local police chief Carsten Kempf during a press conference on Wednesday.
The girl’s body was found in the forest 4 kilometers from her home. According to preliminary data, the examination did not reveal traces of sexual violence. The evidence indicates that the murder was carried out in the forest itself.
It is not yet known when exactly the crime was committed. One of the local residents has already confirmed that she heard the girl’s screams two days after her disappearance.
So far, the police have identified two suspects in the case. The first is a 55-year-old neighbor of the family, Gennady from Ukraine. Previously, he had a relationship with Valeria’s mother. However, Gennady himself assures that they broke up without scandals and he always treated the child well. The man has an alibi – during the last time he was in Turkey, where he was treated by a dentist. Hennadiy showed the relevant medical documents and tickets to the journalists of the publication PICTURE.
The second suspect is 33-year-old Andriy from Moldova. This is also the ex-boyfriend of Valeria’s mother. He currently lives in Prague. There is evidence that he came to Döbeln on the day of the girl’s disappearance. Also then he wrote to Valeria’s mother and demanded a meeting. The suspect’s whereabouts are currently unknown. He is wanted by the Czech police.
Local residents have created an improvised memorial near the girl’s house, they bring toys and flowers there. Valeria’s father is now in Ukraine. He serves in the armed forces. The girl’s family announced a fundraiser for transporting Valeria’s body to Ukraine.
Valeria’s family is under police protection in Germany. The girl’s mother, 33-year-old Nadya, and grandmother Vira live in Dyobelna just a few hundred meters from each other. Police cars have been standing in front of both apartments since last Tuesday. At least one car is always in the immediate vicinity to come to the rescue in case of danger.
