The Russian delegation in Riyadh refused to discuss the cessation of shelling of civilian infrastructure: OPU

During the negotiations in Saudi Arabia, the Russian side refused to discuss the issue of stopping attacks on civilian infrastructure. About this reported Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Ihor Zhovkva.

“We talked separately about civil infrastructure – residential buildings, schools, kindergartens and so on. What did Russia do? During the negotiations, as far as we understand from the information of the American side, they refused to talk about civil infrastructure at all, telling the American delegation that they did not have a mandate to discuss this issue.” Zhovkva explained.

He emphasized that the Ukrainian delegation insisted on the inclusion of civilian objects in the list of those that should be protected from attacks. However, Russia’s actions indicate the opposite — the intensity of shelling is increasing.

“However, we see that the Russian Federation, on the contrary, has recently been carrying out even more intensive shelling of our cities and social facilities. You have seen all the incidents that have happened these days after the silence in the air, which the Russian Federation supposedly observes. The strikes on Kryvyi Rih and Sumy prove that the Russians do not plan to stop shelling at least civilians.”, – emphasized the deputy head of the OPU.

We will remind that during the meeting in Riyadh, Ukraine and the USA agreed on five main results, including ensuring the safety of shipping in the Black Sea, banning attacks on energy infrastructure in Ukraine and the Russian Federation, continuing work on the exchange of prisoners of war and the return of children deported by Russia.
