The SBI has completed an investigation into the supply of low-quality helmets to the State Border Guard Service

The employees of the SBI completed the investigation into the director of the enterprise, which supplied the State Border Service with low-quality ballistic helmets worth 36 million hryvnias. An investigation into the commander of the military unit who accepted and paid for these products was completed earlier. The indictments have already been submitted to the court, informs DBR press office.
The investigation established that after the beginning of the Russian aggression, the commander of the military unit concluded a contract with a private enterprise for the supply of helmets for border guards. After the goods were delivered to Ukraine, in accordance with the legislation and terms of the contract, 8 samples were sent to the relevant institution for inspection. The examination showed that none of them meets the required protection classes.
Under such circumstances, the commander should have refused to accept the lot and returned it to the supplier, but he decided to accept the helmets for balance and make payment. The DBR has taken measures to compensate for the damage caused, in particular, a schedule for replacing low-quality helmets with ones that meet the terms of the contract and current standards has been approved.
The director of the enterprise is accused of official negligence, which led to serious consequences (Part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The former commander is accused of willful failure to perform official duties during wartime, which caused serious consequences (Part 4 of Article 426 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Procedural management in the case is carried out by the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in the field of defense of the Central region.
