The SBU opened cases against more than 100 priests of the UOC MP

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia, criminal proceedings have been opened against more than 100 clergymen of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate (UPC MP). This was reported by the SBU press service in comments UNN on August 20.

According to the SBU, almost 50 priests have already received reports of suspicion, and 26 of them have been convicted by the court.

“Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, according to the SBU, criminal proceedings have been opened against more than 100 clergymen of the UOC (MP), almost 50 of them have already been notified of suspicion, and 26 have received court sentences.”, – noted the SBU.

It is worth noting that on the same day, August 20, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a draft law banning the activities of religious organizations associated with Russia on the territory of Ukraine.

We will also remind you that, according to the results of a poll conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology, the majority of Ukrainians support a complete ban on the activities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate in Ukraine.
