The State Department approved the sale of F-16 training and support services to Ukraine

The US State Department approved the sale to Ukraine of training, maintenance and equipment services for F-16 fighter jets in the amount of about 310.5 million dollars under the “Foreign Military Sales” program. About this reported Office of Military Cooperation of the US Department of Defense.

The Ukrainian side asked the US to provide equipment and services to support the F-16, including modernization, personnel training, spare parts, ground systems, software, documentation, research, as well as technical and logistical support from US agencies and contractors.

It is noted that this agreement is consistent with the foreign policy interests and national security goals of the USA, because it strengthens the security of Ukraine as a key factor of stability and economic development in Europe. The sale will also contribute to the strengthening of Ukraine’s defense potential thanks to the quality training of pilots and the improvement of cooperation with the American Air Force.

“At this time, the US government is not aware of any compensation agreements proposed in connection with this potential sale. Any compensation agreement will be determined during negotiations between the buyer and the contractor. Implementation of this proposed sale will not require the assignment of additional US government officials or contractors to Ukraine.” – the message says.

We will remind that on May 1, the United States handed over to Ukraine several defective and decommissioned F-16 fighters, which are used as a source of spare parts. Despite this, the United States has so far refrained from supplying combat-capable aircraft, instead continuing to provide other assistance to the Ukrainian Air Force. In total, Ukraine’s international partners promised to transfer 85 serviceable F-16s, some of which are currently used to train Ukrainian pilots in Romania.
