The United States plans to hold indirect talks between Russia and Ukraine: Kellogg

On March 24, the United States plans to organize “indirect” talks between representatives of Russia and Ukraine in Saudi Arabia to clarify the positions of each side. About this reported US Special Representative for Ukraine and Russia Keith Kellogg.

According to him, meetings of technical groups will be held in Riyadh on March 24, in which representatives of both Russia and Ukraine will participate. The parties will be in different rooms.

“You’re basically saying, ‘Okay. What are your terms?’. And you go to the other side, ‘What are your terms?’ Kellogg explained.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that this week the Ukrainian contact group will meet with US representatives in Saudi Arabia to continue discussing the possibility of a temporary ceasefire. Ukraine is preparing a list of infrastructure objects, which it considers “priority and civilian”, and which Russia is shelling.

At the same time, negotiations between the American and Russian parties are scheduled for March 23, in which Ukraine will not take part.

We will remind that on March 11, a meeting of representatives of Ukraine and the USA took place in Saudi Arabia. According to its results, the Ukrainian side declared its readiness to agree to the proposal of the United States to introduce a temporary ceasefire lasting 30 days.
