“There is no such disgrace, hypocrisy and cynicism anywhere in the world”: Yulia Tymoshenko on the adopted laws on minerals and multiple citizenship

Today, the issues of preserving strategic resources and control over citizenship have become particularly acute. In Ukraine, these topics cause a huge public resonance, because they are about the fundamental foundations of the nation’s independence, security, and identity. Recent decisions of the Verkhovna Rada, which concern the development of minerals and the introduction of multi-citizenship, have become the cause of harsh criticism from the leader of the “Fatherland” party, Yulia Tymoshenko.

Mineral development: a threat to strategic resources

For in words Yulia Tymoshenko, the Verkhovna Rada adopted draft law No. 6227, which actually opens access to strategic minerals of Ukraine for foreigners. She claims that this law allows to give explored fields to foreign companies without any competitive procedures, and for a minimal cost.

Tymoshenko is particularly concerned about the fact that it is not just about ordinary minerals, but about 100 unique types of rare earth materials, 22 of which the European Union has recognized as critically important. Tymoshenko emphasizes that this is a matter of national security, because Ukraine may lose control over strategic resources that are key to future economic development.

“From now on, Ukraine will explore them at its own expense, and then the identified deposits will be given to foreign legal entities and individuals without any competitive procedures for nothing. 100 unique types of rare earth minerals will also go under the hammer, 22 of which are recognized by the European Union as critical.” Tymoshenko wrote on her Facebook page.

She emphasized that the “Fatherland” party tried until the last to block this draft law, but, according to her, important decisions today are made far outside the session hall and not even in Ukraine.

The multi-citizenship law: identity threat

Another no less resonant decision was the adoption of the law on multiple citizenship. In his publication in Facebook Tymoshenko called this event “without exaggeration a terrible day for Ukraine” and explained in detail why the adopted laws are dangerous for the state.

Tymoshenko criticized this document, calling it “detrimental to Ukraine’s national interests.” She explained that this law actually allows foreigners to obtain Ukrainian citizenship in a simplified manner, in particular through an online declaration.

Tymoshenko expressed her indignation at the fact that the adoption of this law is justified by the need to simplify the acquisition of citizenship for foreigners who today defend Ukraine at the front. She reminded that this problem has already been solved by another law, and the use of this topic is nothing more than a cover for “fraudulent schemes”.

Yulia Tymoshenko called these legislative initiatives “dissimilarity, hypocrisy and cynicism”, stressing that there are no similar examples in any other country in the world. She called for the dissolution of the parliament that makes such decisions and the replacement of the government that pursues such policies.

“The law that actually starts the process of replacing the Ukrainian people with online people.
The law that leads to the loss of our identity – language, culture, traditions.
The law that allows you to apply for citizenship in the online system by filling out a declaration of recognition as a citizen of Ukraine…

And then these people, “citizens” on outsourcing, without even crossing our border, will get the right to vote, use social benefits, the right to buy land…

The right to be a Ukrainian without being one even for a minute.

And this is at a time when some of our citizens will give their lives for the Motherland, and others will wander around the world, not least thanks to the “wise” policy of the authorities.
And it is especially shameful that this whole adventure is covered with a mantra about the desire to simplify the procedure for obtaining Ukrainian citizenship for foreigners who are at the front today. Great to know that this problem is already solved by another law.

There is no such dissimilarity, such hypocrisy and such cynicism anywhere in the world! The parliament that makes such decisions should be dissolved! And the government, which conducts such a policy, has been replaced!”, – emphasized the people’s deputy.
