Trump appointed the CEO of his social network Truth Social as chairman of the intelligence council

President-elect Donald Trump announced the appointment of Devin Nunes, CEO of the Truth Social social platform, as the head of the US President’s Intelligence Advisory Council. This is reported Reuters.
Nunes is a longtime Trump ally and previously chaired the U.S. House Intelligence Committee during his first term as president. In his new position, he will combine his duties as head of Truth Social with his work on the Advisory Board.
Donald Trump said Devin Nunes will use his experience as chairman of the Intelligence Committee, as well as his key role in exposing what he called the “Russia, Russia, Russia” hoax, to provide an independent assessment of the effectiveness and appropriateness of the intelligence community’s actions USA. Nunes previously accused the FBI of colluding against Trump during the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election, in which Trump defeated Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.
The US President’s Intelligence Advisory Board is a group of experts that provides independent evaluation of the work and planning of the intelligence services, helping the president shape national security strategy. Truth Social, the platform Nunes leads, launched in January 2022, 13 months after Trump’s accounts were suspended on Facebook and Twitter following a storming of the Capitol by his supporters.
The appointment of Devin Nunes to the key post underscores Trump’s intent to trust his closest allies on matters of national security and intelligence.
