Trump instructed Musk to audit Pentagon expenses

US President Donald Trump said he has instructed American billionaire Elon Musk to review “virtually everything”, including Pentagon spending. About this informs CNN.

“He will take up education very quickly, and he will take up the military field. Military as well”, – said Trump.

At the same time, he did not express any concerns about a possible conflict of interest. Although the US Department of Defense is largely dependent on Musk’s companies, which provide the launch of most military satellites. Last year alone, his businesses received approximately $3 billion in nearly 100 contracts with 17 federal agencies.

Trump praised the work of the group led by Musk within the Department of Government Efficiency, which has already initiated large-scale cuts among civil servants. In particular, almost 10,000 employees of the US Agency for International Development (USAID), which deals with foreign aid programs, were dismissed.

“I am very proud of the work of this group of young but very intelligent people. They are doing it at my insistence. It would be much easier not to do it, but we need to sort out some things to uncover corruption.”, – emphasized the US president.
