US President Donald Trump officially declared May 8 Victory Day in World War II. There was a corresponding decision made public on the White House website.

“I, Donald Trump, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim May 8, 2025, as World War II Victory Day.” – said the head of the White House.

Trump emphasized that the United States is proud to mark the 80th anniversary of the Allied victory over Nazism and fascism, as well as the end of the war in Europe, calling it “one of the most epic victories of the forces of freedom in the history of the world.”

“Without the sacrifice of our American soldiers, this war would not have been won, and our world today would be radically different.” – he emphasized.

The president noted his commitment to ending protracted foreign wars and preventing new casualties.

“As I stated in my inaugural address, we will measure our success not only by the battles we win, but also by the wars we end. And I will be most proud of the legacy of a peacemaker.”, – said Trump.

The US president recalled the unconditional surrender of Germany on May 8, 1945 and assured that he would continue efforts to prevent new wars and reduce human losses.

We will remind you that May 8 is the Victory Day in the Second World War in Europe. It was on this day in 1945 that the Act of Unconditional Surrender of Nazi Germany was officially signed in Berlin by the Anti-Hitler Coalition. On this day, across Europe, as well as in the UK and the US, people took to the streets to take part in celebratory demonstrations.
