Trump promises to impose sanctions against Russia if peace talks fail

US President Donald Trump announced that he would introduce sanctions against Russia in case of failure of negotiations with Ukraine. He believes that these sanctions will be devastating for the Russian Federation. About this informs Fox News.

Commenting on Senator Lindsey Graham’s bill on tough sanctions against Russia, Trump noted that he had already used similar levers of pressure on Venezuela and Iran.

“Frankly, I will do it (impose sanctions) if we don’t make a deal”, – emphasized Trump.

The president also noted that he will closely monitor the developments at the negotiations in Turkey.

“It’s Turkey’s time, we’re talking about Turkey, and we’ll see what happens. It’s going to be a crushing defeat for Russia because they’re going through tough times economically, oil prices are low.” – said the American leader.

Trump again emphasized that only he is capable of resolving the conflict.

“There cannot be a meeting without me, because, as far as I’m concerned, the agreement will not go through without me. I have a very good relationship with Putin. I think we will reach an agreement“, he noted.

It will be recalled that this week the European Union states agreed on the 17th package of sanctions against Russia, aimed at the so-called “shadow fleet” of the Russian Federation and companies that facilitate the circumvention of current restrictions.
