Ukraine declassified data on reserves of critical minerals

Ukraine’s mineral resources have become more accessible for business — the state has canceled the “Secret” label on information about lithium, gold, titanium and other strategic minerals. This decision is aimed at attracting investors and stimulating the development of the industry. About this reported Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Svitlana Grynchuk.

“The vulture has been lifted, and now we are completing all bureaucratic procedures in order to fully work with investors and businesses”, the minister noted.

The declassification of geological information not only opens the way to investments, but is also accompanied by large-scale digitization. These are data on reserves, deposits and mining potential of such minerals as lithium, gold, titanium, platinum, diamonds, palladium, zirconium, iridium and other critical minerals. The only useful mineral whose data remains classified is uranium.

“Just a week ago, we signed an agreement on the second stage of the project,” Grynchuk explained.

According to her, the restrictions that have been in place since Soviet times made it difficult to conduct business and attract investments. Investors will now have access to this data. Some of the reports have already been digitized — 6,000 documents are currently available, and another 60,000 books with geological information are planned to be digitized in the near future. The project is implemented with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and negotiations with the American corporation DFC about its expansion are ongoing.
