Ukraine finances military salaries entirely from its own taxes: Shmyhal

Ukraine fully finances the salaries of military personnel at the expense of tax revenues to the state budget. About this stated Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal, reports BBC News.

“As of today, everything that Ukraine collects is given to defenders. Today, Ukraine collects $50 billion in taxes. And this is our contribution as a state to the war. The war economy is 120+ billion dollars that Russia spends.”Shmyhal noted.

He emphasized that Ukraine should spend no less to maintain the front, and even more to win.

“If we want to win, we have to spend more. Of the 120 billion, 50 plus is given by Ukraine, 60-70 is given by the partners. We also talked about this at “Ramstein” that next year Ukraine will need $ 60 billion from its partners to finance the resistance to Russian aggression. But. Ukraine pays the wages of the military from its own taxes.” – explained the minister.

Shmyhal also noted that the increase in revenues to the budget will increase the amount of payments to the military.

We will remind you that in April 2024, the Cabinet of Ministers decided to pay an additional 70,000 hryvnias to the military for every 30 days of stay “at zero”.
