Ukraine increased state orders for technical specialties by 27%

Ukraine has significantly increased the volume of state orders for technical specialties in demand on the labor market — in particular, in engineering, production, and construction. The growth was 27%. About this reported First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Economy Yuliya Svyridenko during a speech at the “Education of New Ukraine” conference.
“In this introductory year, we have already increased the number of state orders for informatization and technical specialties. We have increased (orders for specialties – ed.) engineering, production and construction by 27.6%. In fact, these are revolutionary changes for the system of state orders.” – said Svyridenko.
She emphasized that under the conditions when about 5 million Ukrainians are abroad, and employers point to the shortage of qualified workers as the main problem, investing in education and human capital development becomes a key task of state policy.
“Our future will be in the field of defense, in innovative technologies, in the development of the energy industry, in projects in the field of logistics and transport. And here we must also understand that the future will actually be in the private sector.”, – emphasized the government official.
Svyridenko also reminded about the initiative of the Ministry of Economy — the voucher program for adults who want to get a new qualification. Every year, through this program, 20,000 to 30,000 people study at vocational and technical education centers subordinated to the ministry. The employment rate after graduation is 97%.
“We are also reforming professional education centers for adults. We are involving business in this. All CPTOs already have entrepreneurs on the supervisory board who help adjust training courses to market demand. Training specialists is the responsibility not only of the state, but also of business. I believe that dual education, when students can combine study and work, is also a good practice. We, for our part, are improving the working conditions of the labor market. We are currently working on changing the labor legislation.”, — added Sviridenko.
Changes to the labor legislation provide for the legalization of the combination of education and employment through the introduction of a student employment contract. In addition, it is planned to expand the possibility of obtaining additional paid holidays for distance learning students – currently this option is available only for evening and part-time forms.
