Ukrainians submitted about 476,000 applications for weapons permits

Ukrainians have already submitted almost 476,000 applications for various types of weapons permits through the Unified Register of Weapons, which demonstrates the high interest in legal gun ownership in Ukraine in the context of the war and the unstable security situation. Ukrainians are actively using the opportunity to apply for weapons permits through the Unified Register of Weapons, which was launched in June 2023.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, law enforcement officers have already made more than 461,000 decisions on the issuance of permits for various types of weapons.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the launch of the Unified Register of Weapons has significantly simplified and accelerated the process of obtaining documents, making it transparent and convenient for citizens. Since the launch of the system, more than 141,000 people have registered through the Single Citizen’s Window, and almost 50,000 of the system’s users are already gun owners who have taken the opportunity to obtain or renew permits through the new system.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasises that the Unified Register of Weapons has become an important tool for law enforcement agencies to strengthen control over arms trafficking and increase public safety. As the registry promotes transparency and ensures the detection of violations, it reduces the risk of weapons reaching people who do not have legal grounds. In the current environment, when public safety is one of the key priorities, controlling arms trafficking is of particular importance.
