Starting 15 December, Ukrzaliznytsia will introduce a new timetable that will include more international and domestic connections. The official presentation of the schedule will take place in November. This was announced by Oleksandr Pertsovskyi, Chairman of the Board of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia, during a telethon.
Pertsovsky noted that there will be pleasant surprises for passengers in the form of new routes for the winter holidays. Ukrzaliznytsia is also working to ensure that tickets for all flights can be purchased exclusively through official channels.
‘But still, demand exceeds supply because we have limited rolling stock, many cars are used for medical transport, and despite the fact that we are updating and adding cars, there are not always enough for all connections. As for international connections, this is also a matter of cooperation with international partners,”he explained.
As a reminder, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development will provide €300 million to Ukrzaliznytsia to upgrade dual-powered electric locomotives.
In addition, the Verkhovna Rada ratified the Framework Agreement between Ukraine and Korea, which provides for loans from the Economic Development and Cooperation Fund for the period 2024-2029. This decision will facilitate the purchase of 20 Intercity+ electric trains for Ukrzaliznytsia.
