US State Department approves sale of two military aid packages to Ukraine for $322 million

US Department of State confirmed the sale to Ukraine of two packages of military aid worth $322 million, which include HAWK Phase III anti-aircraft missile systems with maintenance, as well as Bradley infantry fighting vehicles along with repair facilities.
The State Department made a decision regarding the potential sale to Ukraine of the HAWK Phase III air defense system, equipment and services for its maintenance in the amount of approximately $172 million. The Government of Ukraine has requested support for the maintenance of the HAWK missile system, including trucks, spare parts, repair equipment, technical documentation, training and logistics.
“In order to implement this proposed sale, it will be necessary to send approximately five representatives of the US government and fifteen representatives of the contractor to Ukraine”, the statement says.
Separately, the U.S. approved the potential sale of $150 million worth of Bradley infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine along with maintenance, repair, overhaul and related equipment kits. The statement emphasized that the implementation of this sale “will not require the deployment of additional representatives of the US government or a contractor to Ukraine,” as was the case with the HAWK systems.
