Usyk knocked out Dubois in the fifth round and became the absolute world heavyweight champion for the third time

On the night of July 19-20, a grand boxing evening took place at the legendary Wembley arena in London, culminating in a rematch between Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk and British Daniel Dubois. At stake was a full set of heavyweight titles: Usyk defended the WBA, WBO and WBC belts, and Dubois defended the IBF title. The winner became the absolute heavyweight champion of the world.

The fight began with careful study: both boxers moved a lot, exchanging jabs. Already in the first round, Usyk hit his opponent’s jaw with a left hand twice, demonstrating accuracy and speed. In the second round, Dubois managed to land a strong straight punch, but the Ukrainian responded with a series of body shots and a powerful head kick, forcing the Briton to retreat to the ropes.

In the third round, the Briton tried to take the lead again, accurately hitting Usyk in the head several times. However, the Ukrainian immediately reacted, holding several deuces and again — a left to the jaw. The fourth round was a bit of a pause as the opponents waited, exchanging jabs, but both remained cautious.

The climax came in the fifth round. After a series of precise blows, Usyk first sent DuBois to a knockdown, and then, after conducting a powerful series to the head and body, finally broke the British resistance. The referee stopped the fight – a technical knockout, an indisputable victory for the Ukrainian.

Thus, Oleksandr Usyk became the absolute heavyweight champion of the world for the third time in his career, confirming the status of a boxing legend. His professional record now stands at 24 wins (14 by knockout) and no losses. Daniel DuBois suffered his third loss in 22 wins, 21 of which were by stoppage.

This triumph cements Usyk’s status as a dominator in heavyweight — the heaviest and, at the same time, the most prestigious weight category in world boxing.
