Volodymyr Zelenskyy imposed sanctions against the Georgian authorities

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy approved the sanctions introduced by the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) against the current leadership of Georgia. Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili and 19 other high-ranking officials of the country fell under the restrictions.
“These sanctions are directed against those representatives of the Georgian authorities who are actually surrendering the country to Putin”, – says in messages Zelensky
Previously, the head of state instructed to develop sanctions in response to the actions of the Georgian government.
“It’s just shameful what things they [the Georgian government] are going to now against their own people. And when Moscow praises this government in Georgia, it clearly outlines who they are currently working for in Tbilisi and for whom they are dispersing protests.”, he commented.
In Georgia, large-scale protests are ongoing, caused by citizens’ indignation over the falsification of parliamentary election results. The government responds to the demonstrations with repressive measures: searches are conducted, opposition leaders are detained, and protesters face pressure from the security forces.
