Vucic refused to sign a declaration in support of Ukraine

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić refused to sign a declaration in support of Ukraine following the results of the “Ukraine-Southeastern Europe” summit. About this informs Serbian publication Srbija Danas.
The declaration, which contains 19 points, strongly condemns Russia for “illegal and unprovoked aggression against Ukraine”, calls for the introduction of new sanctions against the aggressor country, the withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory of Ukraine, support for Ukraine’s membership in the EU and NATO, as well as the creation of a special tribunal to investigate Russian aggression.
The document was signed by the leaders of Ukraine, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Albania, North Macedonia and Slovenia. The participants undertook to strengthen cooperation with Ukraine in the spheres of security, humanitarian and energy security, as well as to support it in the process of post-war reconstruction.
Vucic assured that his trip to Odesa was not a betrayal of Russia, “as some Serbian media claim,” and added that, in his opinion, he “remained the only one who did not sign the declaration” of the Odesa summit.
“Unlike them, who are ready to accept everything that is directed against Russia, everything that they can”, – he explained.
We will remind you that on June 11, 2025, the “Ukraine – Southeast Europe” summit was held in Odesa, in which, in particular, the President of Serbia, Vučić, took part. On the sidelines of the summit, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi held meetings with Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Prime Minister of Croatia Andrii Plenkovich and Prime Minister of Bulgaria Rosen Zhelyazkov. In addition, Zelensky held a tripartite meeting with Maya Sandu and Nikushor Dan, the leaders of Moldova and Romania. Later, he talked with the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić.
