Washington Blocks Britain’s Authorization to Use Storm Shadow Against Russia Over Escalation Fears: The Times

The United States is effectively blocking Britain’s authorization for Ukraine to use Storm Shadow missiles to strike Russian territory. The UK sent a corresponding request to the US more than a month ago, but has not yet received an official response. informs The Times.
According to a source in the British government, the discussion of this issue is “stuck” in the US system. Another newspaper source said that discussions about the use of Storm Shadow are ongoing. Another source called it “normal process” for the US.
The Times notes that approval of the Storm Shadow missile strikes on Russia requires the consent of the United States, France and another NATO country, whose name has not been disclosed. A government source stressed that the UK did not blame the US for the delay, adding that such policy changes take time.
It was previously reported that British ministers are conducting closed talks with allies, trying to convince them to allow Ukraine to use Storm Shadow missiles, capable of hitting targets at a distance of up to 250 kilometers. Britain’s official position remains unchanged: London allows Ukraine to use any weapon it supplies to strike Russia, with the exception of the Storm Shadow.
