Yemen’s Houthis announced an end to attacks on ships in the Red Sea

On January 20, the Yemeni Houthis announced an end to attacks on ships in the Red Sea shipping corridor, with the exception of vessels linked to Israel. About this informs The Times of Israel.
The statement emphasized that the decision was made in connection with the agreement between Israel and Hamas on a ceasefire and the release of hostages. The Houthis decided to stop attacks on other vessels, which had been their regular targets since November 2023.
At the same time, the Houthis noted that the attacks on Israeli ships will stop only after the fulfillment of all conditions of the cease-fire agreement in the Gaza Strip. The group is also expected to issue a military statement today, likely to be linked to the decision.
It will be recalled that on January 19, the cease-fire agreement between Israel and Hamas entered into force. The truce calls for an end to hostilities, the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza and the release of 33 Israeli and foreign hostages during the first six-week phase. In response, Israel must release about 2,000 Palestinian prisoners held in its prisons.
