According to the National Bank of Ukraine, in 2024 the profit of Ukrainian banks after paying taxes amounted to UAH 103.7 billion, which is 20% more than in 2023. The total amount of income tax that banks have to pay is UAH 83.72 billion, which is 14% more than in the previous year. 85% of the total profit is accounted for by the country’s ten largest banks. During the year, 52 banks of Ukraine received a total profit of UAH 104.12 billion, while 9 banks suffered cumulative losses of UAH 418 million. In addition, at the end of the year, Cominvestbank was declared insolvent, which was reflected in the overall profitability structure of the banking system.
85% of the total profit of banks belongs to the top 10 institutions, which together earned UAH 88.57 billion. There was a change in this rating: the private Universal Bank (Monobank) displaced the foreign Citibank from the top ten.
The leaders among Ukrainian banks were:
- PrivatBank — UAH 40.14 billion (39% of the total profit of the banking system).
- Oschadbank — UAH 14.83 billion (a three-fold increase in profit compared to 2023).
- Ukreximbank — UAH 5.56 billion.
- Raiffeisen Bank — UAH 4.28 billion.
- OTP Bank — UAH 4.12 billion.
- Credit Agricole Bank — UAH 4.09 billion (a 1.5-fold increase).
- UkrSybbank — UAH 4.08 billion.
- FUIB — UAH 3.94 billion.
- Sens Bank — UAH 3.81 billion.
- Universal Bank — UAH 3.72 billion (rise in the rating from 12th to 10th place).
PrivatBank maintains the leadership with a profit of UAH 40.14 billion, and also became the main tax payer in the sector, paying a record UAH 40.86 billion.
State banks earned UAH 67.19 billion, which is 65% of the profit of the entire banking sector. There is a significant increase in the profits of Oschadbank, which tripled its financial indicators.
In 2024, 14 banks with foreign capital earned UAH 22.51 billion (22% of total profit). Credit Agricole Bank showed the greatest increase, which increased its net profit by 1.5 times. In total, foreign banks paid UAH 22.99 billion in tax, which is 27.5% of all tax revenues from the banking sector.
Private banks of Ukraine earned UAH 14 billion after tax, which is 1.5 times more than in 2023 (UAH 9.4 billion). MTB Bank demonstrated the greatest growth, increasing profits by 6.8 times.
The amount of income tax paid by banks with private capital increased by 37% and amounted to UAH 12.37 billion, which is equal to 14.7% of the total tax of the banking sector.
