10% of Ukrainian police officers are fighting at the front: Interior Minister

About 10 per cent of the National Police of Ukraine are performing combat missions at the frontline as part of the Ukrainian defence forces. This was announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko in an interview with Suspilne, emphasising the significant involvement of police officers in the defence of the country.
In addition, according to the official, about 25% of the National Police personnel perform their duties in regions where active hostilities are ongoing, such as Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kherson and Sumy regions. They are ensuring public order, assisting in the evacuation of civilians, maintaining local security and contributing to stability in the regions affected by the hostilities.
The minister added that the National Police units actively cooperate with the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, performing various tasks for the benefit of the state’s defence. Police rifle units are deployed alongside the military, providing additional support in strategically important operations.
Also, some police officers from relatively safe areas are periodically deployed to combat missions on a rotational basis. Their tasks also include de-mining, ensuring the safe movement of local residents and controlling public order in the liberated areas.
Earlier, Ihor Klymenko emphasised that police officers do not have special training to participate in combat operations, but now a significant number of personnel are undergoing additional training to perform tasks in combat conditions, which allows the police to actively participate in defence operations together with the Armed Forces and other units, maintaining security and order in the combat zone.
