5 schemes of evasion of mobilization were eliminated in Ukraine: SBU

The Security Service of Ukraine, together with the National Police, exposed and eliminated five new schemes for evading mobilization and illegal departure of men of conscription age abroad. As a result of special operations in different regions, ten organizers of criminal groups were arrested, who sold their “services” for amounts from 5 to 13 thousand US dollars. Law enforcement officers established that corruption schemes were active in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lviv, Vinnytsia and Transcarpathia. Fraudsters used forged documents, fake disability certificates, medical fraud and arranged illegal routes to cross the border.

In particular, a group of lawyers was exposed in the Kyiv region, who offered men fictitious medical certificates about the disability of their children, as well as issued them as pilots or aircraft engineers, which allowed them to travel abroad without hindrance, supposedly to confirm their professional suitability. Four organizers of this scheme have already been charged with suspicion.

In the Kharkiv region, the SBU military counterintelligence detained a midwife who helped men obtain the status of a father with many children. She made arrangements with pregnant women to indicate on their birth certificates not the real parents, but clients of the scheme.

In the Lviv region, cyber specialists of the Security Service of Ukraine exposed a local dealer and a neurologist who were selling fake disability certificates. They involved in the scheme real seriously ill people who underwent medical examination instead of conscripts.

In Transcarpathia, two dealers were suspected of organizing an illegal crossing of the state border through the border river. The so-called “package of services” included instruction on crossing the reservoir and a wetsuit.

In Vinnytsia, the organizer of the route through “Zelenka” was detained. The man in his own car accompanied the men to the border, and then led them along the forest paths to the neighboring country.

All the detainees were suspected under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — for obstructing the legal activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations, attempting to illegally smuggle people across the state border, and forging documents. The maximum penalty under these articles is up to nine years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
