A current member of the Verkhovna Rada is accused of illicit enrichment of UAH 11 million: SAPO

On October 3, an indictment was handed over to the High Anti-Corruption Court (HCCA) in the case of a sitting People’s Deputy, who is accused of illegal enrichment of 11 million hryvnias. About this reported press service of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP).
According to the investigation materials, in 2020-2021, the deputy acquired assets worth a total of 25 million hryvnias, while the combined income of him and his wife during this period was only 14 million hryvnias. According to the investigation, the difference of 11 million hryvnias has no legal explanation.
In particular, it is about the acquisition of three plots of land in the Kyiv region, five apartments in Kyiv, two non-residential premises, as well as two luxury cars — Tesla and Mercedes-Benz. In order to hide the property, the people’s elected representative transferred most of this property to close relatives, but retained full control over it.
In May, the deputy was charged under Art. 368-5 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which refers to illegal enrichment. The exposure of this crime was made possible thanks to journalistic investigations, in particular by the Bihus.Info team, as well as with the assistance of the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NACP).
Although the deputy’s name is not officially known, for data “Ukrainian Pravda” is about Andrii Klochka, a representative of the “Servant of the People” party.
