Starting June 1, banks will lower transfer limits
Starting from June 1, 2025, Ukrainian banks will reduce the limits on money transfers for citizens. Restrictions will apply not only to card transactions, but also to payments using IBAN details. Appropriate changes provided for memorandum signed by leading banks of the country.
In particular, for clients with an “average” and “low” level of risk, the monthly limit for outgoing transfers will be reduced from 150 to 100 thousand hryvnias. This limit was introduced on February 1, and it will be reduced from June. For clients with a “high” level of risk, it will remain unchanged — 50,000 hryvnias per month.
The restrictions do not apply to persons with confirmed sources of income, in particular wage earners. They can carry out transfers beyond the established limits, subject to the provision of relevant documents.
From October 1, 2024, the National Bank of Ukraine set a limit for P2P card transfers in the amount of 150,000 hryvnias per month, which was valid until April 1, 2025. Later, regulation moved to the banking community — in December 2024, leading banks signed a memorandum “On ensuring transparency in the functioning of the banking payment services market.”
The document specifies that confirmation of sources of income can be certificates OK5 and OK7, tax declaration, salary documents, enrollment from state institutions, confirmed incomes of family members and documents about volunteering.
Customers who plan to transfer more than the limit must provide proof of income. After that, banks can establish or cancel restrictions in accordance with the financial capabilities of the client, including through control of the amounts of income to the accounts. Also, banks introduced a limit on the number of accounts in one currency for one client without confirmed sources of income – no more than three.
