A group of speleologists stuck in a cave has been rescued in France

In the French Alps, a rescue operation to free a group of speleologists who were trapped in a cave has ended. About this informsBFMTV.

The incident happened on Sunday in the cave of Saint-Pierre de Chartreuse, located in the department of Isère. Three speleologists set out to explore separate sections of cave passageways and ended up under a rubble at a distance of an hour and a half from the entrance. The emergency situation was reported to the rescuers by the fourth member of the group, who remained near the exit from the cave. Already on Sunday evening, two speleologists managed to get to the surface on their own.

The next morning, rescuers pulled out a 25-year-old man who suffered the most and remained trapped for 12 hours. His condition is stable, there is no threat to his life. Almost 80 specialists from various services took part in the rescue operation.

A similar case happened in December in Italy, when a speleologist girl was rescued for three days. 32-year-old Ottavia Piana was pulled from the Abisso Bueno Fonteno cave near Bergamo. As a result of the fall, she suffered serious injuries – fractures of the spine, ribs, facial bones and knee. She has remained in place since the incident.

Piana is a caving instructor and is not the first to find herself in emergency situations. Last year, she was already stuck in the same cave – she spent two days there with a broken leg at a depth of 150 meters not far from the place of the current fall.
