A new project “Portfolio for a first-grader” was launched in Ukraine

With the beginning of the new school year, many Ukrainian families are faced with significant expenses for preparing their children for school. This task is especially difficult for those who find themselves in difficult life circumstances due to the war. In response to these challenges, a new project was launched in Ukraine, which aims to facilitate this process for the most vulnerable families.
The Hope Initiative: Project Details
The BGV Charity Fund, together with partners including ROZETKA, Hanseatic Help, Lamy and others, announced the launch of an initiative called “A portfolio for a first-grader”. This project is aimed at supporting children with the status of internally displaced persons (IDPs), who will sit down at school for the first time this year.
The project covers not only IDP children, but also those who belong to socially vulnerable categories. These can be children with disabilities, orphans, children from large or low-income families, as well as children deprived of parental care.
In order to receive a backpack with school supplies, parents need to submit an application on the website of the BGV Foundation. The application procedure is very simple: you need to fill out a short form and provide the necessary documents to confirm your IDP status and belonging to one of the vulnerable categories. If the application meets the requirements of the project, a backpack with everything necessary for training will be provided free of charge.
Geography of aid
For many families who were forced to leave their homes because of the war, preparing for school becomes a serious financial challenge. The “Portfolio for a first-grader” project not only helps children get everything they need to study, but also supports parents in this difficult time.
Today, the initiative covers Zhytomyr, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Poltava, Rivne, Khmelnytskyi, Cherkasy and Vinnytsia regions. This means that it is in these regions that first-graders from IDP families can count on help.
It is not known why the front-line Kharkiv region, where there are many IDPs from the zone of active hostilities, was not included in the project.
