A Ukrainian woman involved in the sale of 56 human kidneys was detained in Poland

Polish border guards detained a Ukrainian citizen who was sentenced to 12 years in prison in Kazakhstan. She participated in an organized crime group that was involved in the trade of human organs and sold 56 kidneys. About this informs Reuters.
The 35-year-old woman, identified under Polish privacy laws as Ksenia P., was detained at a railway crossing between Poland and Ukraine. She was wanted on the basis of an Interpol red notice.
The prosecutor’s office did not state the reasons why the woman was not in prison in Kazakhstan at the time of her arrest. According to law enforcement officers, Interpol declared her wanted in November 2020. An Interpol red notice is a request to international law enforcement agencies for the temporary arrest of a person for the purpose of extradition or conducting other judicial procedures.
The woman was found guilty of participating in an international criminal group that, between 2017 and 2019, illegally collected human tissues and organs for further sale on the black market.
During the investigation, it was proven that the group received kidneys from 56 victims in Kazakhstan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Thailand for financial gain. The prosecutor’s office notes that criminals sought to turn these crimes into a stable source of income.
So far, the prosecutor’s office has submitted a petition to the court for the temporary arrest of the detainee for a period of one week for further extradition to Kazakhstan.
