Alibaba will invest more than $5 billion in the purchase of AI chips this year

Chinese tech giant Alibaba plans to spend 39 billion yuan (about $5.39 billion) on artificial intelligence chips in 2025. It is noted that this amount may increase if the financial indicators of the company exceed the forecasted results, informs Forbes.

This initiative is part of Alibaba’s large-scale strategy for the development of AI technologies. The CEO of the company, Eddie Wu, emphasized that all divisions of Alibaba should adapt their activities to the use of artificial intelligence. At most, the evaluation of the performance of each of them will depend on the ability to successfully implement innovative technologies for further growth.

The management of Alibaba also calls on the Taobao and Tmall shopping platforms to more actively apply AI in their activities. In cooperation with the Qwen division, the company is working on the introduction of new features that should increase the efficiency of the platforms and improve the user experience.

We will remind that in February, Alibaba announced plans to invest about 53 billion dollars in the development of cloud technologies and infrastructure for artificial intelligence within three years. This amount exceeds the company’s total investment in this direction over the last decade.
