Almost 24 thousand male students 30+ expelled from universities in 2024

From April to August 2024, 23,500 male students over the age of 30 were expelled from higher educational institutions of Ukraine. About this reported Deputy Minister of Education and Science Mykhailo Vynnytskyi.

“During the period April-August 2024, 23,448 male education seekers aged 30+ were excluded from higher education institutions of Ukraine. Reasons for exclusion were failure to succeed, failure to attend classes, etc. education quality assurance systems of the universities themselves”, — noted Vynnytskyi.

The official emphasized that although the expulsion of students is not a positive phenomenon for the educational system, it shows the growing demands of Ukrainian universities.

“Obviously, those excluded are those “students” who did not actually plan to be students, but wanted to use this status to avoid other responsibilities. The fact that they are no longer in the higher education system is a sign that the system is self-cleansing.”, – said the deputy minister.

He also informed that the Ministry of Education and Science has deprived a number of higher education institutions of their licenses to carry out educational activities.

“We continue the fight against unscrupulous businessmen who discredit higher education with their fake “institutions”, which in 2023-2024 massively enrolled men of draft age (especially aged 30+ and often in violation of license volumes), absolutely publicly declaring their rates for such actions. Such profanation of the higher education system will not be tolerated.” – stressed Vynnytskyi.
