‘America will not have time for this”: Lukashenko offers to help Ukraine rebuild

The President of Belarus, Oleksandr Lukashenko, announced Minsk’s readiness to participate in the reconstruction of Ukraine after the end of the war. His words are reported by the Belarusian agency Belta.
Lukashenko noted that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, according to him, is more inclined to cooperate with the United States and visits Washington to resolve important issues, instead of looking for ways to end the war in Minsk or Moscow.
Lukashenko believes that the US will not support Ukraine in its recovery after the war. In his opinion, after the change of power in Washington, they can say to Zelensky: “Volodya, who are you?”.
The leader of Belarus added that the Ukrainian leadership should understand that after the war, rebuilding the country will become their main task, and Belarusians can help them in this.
Restoration of Ukraine
According to government data, the cost of rebuilding Ukraine already reaches almost 486 billion dollars, of which 15 billion dollars are needed for urgent restoration work. According to Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, reconstruction costs continue to rise, especially in the housing sector, where 10% of the country’s housing stock was destroyed or damaged due to the actions of the Russian army.
Ukraine plans to use frozen Russian assets as the main resource for recovery, while cooperating with international partners and attracting private investment.
