An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.7 occurred in Turkey

An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.7 on the Richter scale occurred in the southwestern region of Turkey, near the Datca coast in the Mugla province. About this informs Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate (AFAD).

According to AFAD, the earthquake occurred yesterday evening, its epicenter was located in the Mediterranean Sea at a distance of 224.21 km from the coast of Datcha district, Mugla province. It shook the ground at a depth of 7.03 km at 19:09 local time.

According to Turkish media, tremors were felt on the southern and southwestern coasts of Turkey. There were no reports of damage or casualties.

We will remind that on February 6, 2023, two powerful earthquakes of magnitude 7.7 and 7.6 occurred in the southeast of Turkey and the adjacent areas of Syria, which resulted in numerous victims – more than 50 thousand people died in both countries. This was followed by three more large aftershocks, causing destruction and the death of several people.
