ARMA will transfer 149 works of art confiscated from Medvedchuk to the National Art Museum of Ukraine

The Agency for Search and Management of Assets (ARMA) will hand over 149 arrested works of art belonging to the family of former People’s Deputy Viktor Medvedchuk to the National Art Museum of Ukraine. About this reported in the press service of ARMA.
These are paintings, icons and other works that, according to the results of an expert assessment conducted in 2024 by museum specialists at the initiative of the agency, were recognized as cultural value. Among the authors are representatives of the classical Transcarpathian school, including Yosyp Bokshay, Gavrilo Gluk, Adalbert Erdely.
“This transfer became possible thanks to the amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On ARMA”, which entered into force on July 30, 2025. From now on, the Agency can transfer assets of cultural value to state museums, libraries, reserves and archives without a competitive procedure – by decision of the Cabinet of Ministers. – added in the department.
A total of 285 works from Medvedchuk’s collection were seized by court order. ARMA initiated an examination to determine the artistic and historical significance of the seized property. As a result, 149 objects were recognized as part of the national heritage.
We will remind, at the end of October 2024, the agency reported that the confiscated collection of 136 canvases was valued by experts at 4 million hryvnias.
