As a result of the attack on the Kupol plant in Izhevsk, 4 UAV production workshops were damaged

In the city of Izhevsk (Russia), as a result of the attack on the “Kupol” factory, four workshops where drones are manufactured were damaged. The company temporarily stopped working, Russian mass media reported.
As a result of the impact of two UAVs, the building of the 1st building of the “Kupol” IEMZ, where drones are manufactured, was damaged. One of the devices entered through the window of workshop #106, the other hit the roof of workshop #110 and exploded, causing a fire. As a result, the roof collapsed on an area of 1,300 square meters.
The impact affected production areas related to metalworking, soldering of microcircuits and assembly of finished drones. They worked around the clock in three shifts at the facility. After the attack, the plant was shut down. It is reported that three employees of the enterprise were killed, another 45 people were injured, 35 of them were hospitalized.
The Izhevsk Electromechanical Plant “Kupol” is one of the key facilities of the Russian defense-industrial complex, founded in 1957. According to the director of the enterprise, Fanil Ziyatdinov, in 2023, the plant produced Tor-M2E anti-aircraft missile complexes, Saman-M1 and Adjutant training systems, and also engaged in their maintenance.
In July 2023, after the start of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine, the company began production of Harpia-A1 strike drones, which include Chinese engines and components. The “Kupol” plant is included in the sanctions lists of the EU, USA, Canada, Ukraine and Switzerland.
