A passenger plane collided with a military helicopter at Ronald Reagan Airport outside Washington. Rescuers began an operation to remove bodies from the river, but no survivors have been found so far. About this informs CBS News.

Search and rescue operations continue on the Potomac River. The accident occurred when a passenger plane carrying 64 people collided mid-air with a Black Hawk military helicopter carrying three soldiers. The incident occurred during the approach to landing at Ronald Reagan National Airport.

According to the police, three large areas of debris were found in the water. At least 18 bodies have been recovered so far, but there are no survivors. The passenger plane that crashed was American Airlines flight 5342.

White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt said that US President Donald Trump has already been informed about the tragedy.

“The president will continue to monitor this situation. The thoughts and prayers of the entire Trump administration are with everyone involved.” – she noted.
