Biden made his first public statement after being diagnosed with cancer

Former US President Joe Biden made his first public statement after being diagnosed with prostate cancer in early May. About this informs NBC News.

During a Memorial Day event at Veterans Memorial Park in New Castle, Delaware, the former president remembered his late son Beau Biden, who served in the Delaware Army National Guard and served in Iraq.

“The proudest day of his life was putting on this uniform. It’s not a joke, it’s not an exaggeration, it’s reality.”,” Biden Sr. said about his son, who died of brain cancer in 2015.

The former president refrained from commenting on the current administration or the political situation, but emphasized the importance of unity in the armed forces, despite the political contradictions within the country.

“Our politics have become so fragmented and so bitter. I’ve been dealing with this all these years and I didn’t think we’d get to this point, but here we are. Our troops don’t wear a uniform that says, ‘I’m a Democrat’ or ‘I’m a Republican.’ It says, ‘I’m an American.’ – said the 46th president of the USA.

He also told reporters that he was feeling well and noted that “everyone is very optimistic” about his diagnosis.

“The expectation is that we can handle it,” – explained the former president.

Biden said that he has already started treatment and it “all boils down to taking a pill.”

When asked about recent reports that his aides were allegedly covering up his deteriorating mental and physical health, Biden responded with irony:

“As you can see, I am mentally incompetent and cannot walk.”
