China seeks to have time to get American materials for chips by the New Year

Chinese companies have stepped up efforts to buy advanced materials for microcircuits and electronics from American suppliers before the New Year. This is due to growing fears that the US may tighten export restrictions in this sector. About this informs Nikkei Asia.
Orders from suppliers such as DuPont, Entegris and Chemours have increased significantly since November. They include a wide range of materials, including chemical-mechanical polishing pads, filters, specialized containers, modern lubricants and high-quality lamps for inspection and testing.
China’s technology industry fears that, in addition to existing restrictions, the U.S. could introduce new ones that would affect the use of key materials and technologies for chip manufacturing. DuPont supplies the high-quality polishing pads required for chemical mechanical polishing, an important step in the manufacturing of microcircuits.
Entegris specializes in FOUP filters and plastic containers for transporting wafers, while Chemours supplies lubricants used in many industries, including the aerospace industry.
It will be recalled that the USA announced the third major package of sanctions against China’s semiconductor industry in the last three years. 140 companies will fall under the restrictions, including the manufacturer of microchip equipment Naura Technology Group.
