In Sweden, it is proposed to include bitcoins in the national reserve

A member of the Swedish Parliament, Rikard Nordin, has written an open letter to the Minister of Finance, Elisabeth Svantesson, in which he proposed to include bitcoins in the country’s foreign exchange reserves. About this informs Cointelegraph.
The deputy proposed a “budget-neutral” approach to the formation of crypto reserves, inspired by the decree of US President Donald Trump on March 7.
“Sweden has a tradition of conservative and carefully managed foreign exchange reserves consisting mainly of foreign currencies and gold”. Nordin explained.
He noted that digital assets are growing rapidly, and more and more countries are looking at bitcoin as a hedge against inflation. His initiative echoes the decision of the United States, where Donald Trump signed an executive order to create a national bitcoin reserve, which will be financed from the cryptocurrency seized in criminal cases.
At the same time, the European Union is focused on creating a digital euro, a central bank digital currency. The European Central Bank started the corresponding project back in 2021, and it should complete the preparatory stage by October of this year. However, the implementation of the digital euro requires the adoption of separate legislation, the development of which is currently suspended.
