Democrats demand Musk’s removal from Trump administration by May 30

77 Democrats of the US House of Representatives have appealed to Donald Trump with a demand to remove Elon Musk from the administration by May 30. About this informs Axios.

The reason for the appeal was the restrictions that apply to special civil servants, such as the heads of temporary bodies, including the DOGE. According to the current law, they have no right to stay in office for more than 130 days.

“We demand an immediate public statement from your administration making it clear that Musk will step down and hand over all decision-making authority as required by law by May 30.” – says the appeal.

The document also states that Musk will not be able to resume special employee status for a year unless he relinquishes a role in the management of his own companies, including Tesla and SpaceX.

Congressional Progressive Caucus Chairman Greg Cazar said this is just the beginning:

“We make it clear that public pressure on the Republicans will only increase until May 30.”

Kazar added that Democrats have “legal tools, political tools” and “all the power of public pressure.”

So far, the Trump administration has not officially commented on the situation. However, she may be using an interpretation proposed by the Office of Government Ethics during Joe Biden’s presidency that would not count unpaid business days toward total tenure.
