During January, specialists of the Ministry of Defense cleared more than 8755 hectares of de-occupied territories
During January 2025, demining units of the Ministry of Defense cleared 8,755 hectares of cleared territories from explosive objects. About this informs press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
“In January, sappers discovered and destroyed 6,011 explosive devices. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the total number of defused items reached 422,888 units,” – says the message.
As a result of the work carried out, 8,682.14 hectares of agricultural land were demined and 11.38 km of roads were cleared. As of January 31, the number of certified mine action operators increased to 80, and during the month their number increased by 9.
The demining teams of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the State Special Transport Service, explosives units of the National Police, and pyrotechnic units of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine are involved in the task of clearing the de-occupied territories from explosive remnants of war.
According to the Law of Ukraine “On Mine Action in Ukraine”, humanitarian demining can be carried out exclusively by certified mine action operators.
